In 1997, the City established a Special Mixed Use District. Its objective was to encourage investment and revitalization of existing neighborhoods while creating expanded opportunities for new mixed-use communities. The Special Mixed-Use District allows new residential and non-residential uses to be located side-by-side or within the same building. The M1 and R3-R10 districts will be paired to ensure a balanced range of uses.
